Donnas Diaries 3/8/21

I am pleased to report that we have been in touch with the Nashville Amateur Radio Association in Nashville, TN.  Discussing the possibility of expanding the "Cast Party" into a Ham Fest with entertainment, VE testing and a Memorial Service remembering all that we have lost.  As decisions are made, I will post here first on my QRZ page.  Keep your fingers crossed...HI....HI....

And now for more exciting news........My Sister, Toni and myself, along with Randy, The Lone Wolf, from the TV show had originally planned a cruise for May of 2020......then due to the COVID we had to reschedule for May of 2021......  We all sat down and discussed how this is really too soon after the vaccines were just becoming available.  So we had to make the decision to reschedule again for May of 2022.........  And therefore, I am proud to announce that the Cruise has been rescheduled again to May 8 - May 15, 2022.  We are so excited!!!!!!

We are planning a fun packed 7 day cruise with............................

Live Entertainment.........you never know who will show up to entertain us!!!!!!!   Can't give out all the surprises just yet.......

There will also be special presentations given by my Daddy, H. D. Snow and Randy Martin, of the most memorable house/structure moves they have made......complete with pictures and Q and A session.  This will be the only place you will be able to see this presentation.  As a matter of fact, Daddy is already working on his now.  This man can tell wonderful stories and has the pictures to back them up.

And then if it couldn't get any better, guess what?  Our travel agent is currently  negotiating with the cruise line for permission for us to have Maritime Mobile stations operate during the cruise.   How cool would that be!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So here is another chance for you to keep your fingers crossed that we get approval to do this.  Again, once the information becomes available, I will post it here first on my QRZ page.  If you would like any more information on next years cruise, please visit Snow Sisters Texas facebook page.....

Guess what Friday was?  It was a "new" fellow Amateur Radio Operator's birthday. Her license is still so new, I don't think the ink is dried....HI....HI....  So P1 and P3 and I surprised her with a girls night out down in the Historic Stockyards of Fort Worth.....or if you grew up there or ever visited, you would know it by North Side.  This girl does not even look her age......

Happy Birthday N5BJC

To be honest there is not that many "House Movers" around the globe.......  But I became friends with some out in San Diego, CA., mainly because of the TV show.  They are all good people and proud to call them our friends.  Joe Hansen, of John Hansen House Moving and his right hand, Dale Wright (I call him George Dale).  Dale and his lovely wife Caryn, welcomed me into their home when I went out to visit.  Like I said, they are all good people.  Anyway,  thought it would be fun to include a "special" house they moved in recent months that was used during the filming of a famous movie.......First I am going to show you a few pictures of the house and the move, see if you can guess which movie....

It's historical......even the sign tells us that clue!

Look at the Gingerbread trim.....I absolutely love Gingerbread trim.....

This is an actual picture inside the kitchen.......does anything look out of place?

Dale actually had to crawl under the house to disconnect the plumbing....yes sir, the commode was plumbed in.  It was not a prank photo!

Do you give up on the movie that this house was filmed in?

TOP GUN !!!!

This movie featured Tom Cruise as a Naval Aviator attending the U. S. Navy Top Gun School in Miramar Naval Air Station in California.....

Since I am on the subject of house moving, thought I would share a few photos from the House Moving Museum......

Miniature replica of a historic house that was moved back east......

Another miniature replica of a historic house that was moved......

Historic house, but not a miniature.....ROAD BLOCKED BY SHEEP!!!

This is a picture of the Masterton Station Hotel,

Built in 1903 and moved in 1998 from Masterton, New Zealand to Martinborough, New Zealand by Chris Ellis of Alpha Specialised Movers

There is such an unbelievable world that is available to us through Amateur Radio, and I think Dr. Raymond Bowers, of Yale University, sums it up much better than I ever could....

That's a mouth full in a small paragraph....

I think our world needs this today, do you agree?

To all my YL Sisters....can I get an AMEN!!!!!
