Donnas Diaries 3/29/21

I have been working on a secret project.......so I am ecstatic to report that after alot of studying, more studying and then more studying.....a lot of practice tests.....asking questions.....and the most important part, PRAYER.....praying I could remember everything that I had read and studied........DRUM ROLL PLEASE..........

WooHoo!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!!

Technician license, technically on 10/26/2020.....stepped up to General on 3/23/2021.  Do you realize how hard it has been for this YL to keep her mouth shut and not give away the surprise?  Well it was extremely hard!

Wanted to share with my Amateur Radio Family first.  Everyone has been so supportive and I am grateful......

I would have put W5SML/AG, but the FCC already had it updated just prior to this post......

There were a few times, I have to admit, that it kinda got discouraging.  Seemed like I could never hit the passing mark on the practice tests.  Then I remembered what I tell my rodeo kids.....never give up......  So I decided to take my own advice, and man, am I glad I did.  Perserverance pays off.  So that is what I say to you.....stay the course, and never give up.....NEVER GIVE UP.  If you fail a practice test, keep taking them.....the tide will turn in your favor.  Remember you only fail, when you quit trying.....   So with that being said......I got me another book......guess which one...... Yep, my Extra Class.......  May take me a little bit longer....but I will never give up.  In the beginning my goal was just a Technician....then I looked around and saw all the kids and people that were watching me.  So, I sat myself down and we had a conversation....    I said, "Donna"... to which I replied...."Yes Mam"...... what kind of an example are you setting for those that are watching if you stop middle of the road?  I sat there a moment and realized, I ask really good questions.....HI...HI...  The bottom line is this....if I am going to talk it....I better be walking it.  To encourage and motivate....if I can do this, so can you.  Particularly to our youth....MORE RADIOS, LESS VIDEOS!  Can I get an AMEN?

By the way, remember the post about the two girls involved in the wreck with their horses?  I am glad to report that both horses have recovered and back to rodeo.  Both young ladies had to overcome their fear of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, especially when pulling livestock.....they are making progress and coming out of that fear.  And their parents have now received their Techinician license, studying for a General.  I would say, Mission Accomplished......

Now on to my other project....well actually it's a project undertaken by my Elmer, Rex (W5EAK) and several of my friends of which just about everyone of them I can proudly say I introduced to Amateur Radio, with their Technician License under their belt......

While Rex says he has a face for radio...HI...HI... he has been most instrumental on the new TV show project.  It is my heart, as his, to help the Veteran/Military community and spread the awesome world of Amateur Radio.  The idea is to include both in a new TV show.  And the only way to do that is for a Network to pick our idea up.  So for the past several months, that has been our mission.

Through a chain of events and contacts, we are working on a SnowMuchLove event for Nashville, TN for the third weekend of July 2021.  As of now, we are working on a plan for a three day event.  Our goal is to include a Texas Flip N Move Cast Party, entertainment and maybe, just maybe some Amateur Radio gatherings.  I don't know about you, but I am ready to get out and visit with old friends and make new ones.  We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Department of Tennessee American Legion.  By donating to an American Legion, we can help reach so many more Veterans and their families, and the Youth Programs that they support.  Okay....can't stand it.....gonna give you a little hint.....this event may have a familiar face for those that have been around for a few years..... LuLu Roman!!!!!!! And that is all I will say in this weeks post.

One thing that I was taught as a young girl, and actually still believe it today.....Love makes the world go round......Did you know that Morse Code was invented because of love?  Don't believe me?  Here's a snipit, go look it up for more details.

Then there is a love of for those that served this great Nation over 50 years ago.  They came home.....and basically welcomed theirselves home.  On Monday, March 29 is National Vietnam Veterans Day.

Picture of the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial located on the Capital grounds in Austin, Texas

It is never too late to say thank you for your service.....and maybe most importantly....welcome home......

Of the 58,484 who died in Vietnam, 7 of them were courageous women.......

Gonna leave you with a couple of more thoughts on love.....I am told there are 5 love languages....saw this and decided this combined all five.....

You're welcome!

Stay tuned.....as details become available on the Nashville, TN outing, they will be posted here first....
