I will be the first to admit I don't look good in green, however, my Elmer (Rex W5EAK) is 99.999999999% Irish!!!!!! So in honor of him, I will find something green for St. Paddy's day coming up soon. Yesterday P1 (currently studing for her Technician License) and I met our Miss N.T.H.S.R.A. Queens Contestants down in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards for the "Cowtown Goes Green Parade". The streets were lined with people, a lot of tourist.....and a lot of little kids so excited to be there for the parade.
So much preperation goes into putting on a parade, my hat's off to the staff that put it together........
Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.....
The weather cooperated for the most part, overcast so it wasn't too hot. It did try to sprinkle a couple of times, but nothing to worry about. About the only obstable was the high winds.....
So just like any good little cowgirl would do........we pushed forward.....nothing was going to stop us now!!
Getting ready for the parade.....
I don't think "Captain" was impressed at all....do you?
A quick bite at Coopers Old Time Pit BBQ in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.....then parade time.......
A fan....her and her husband were visiting from San Antonio, Texas...
No shenanigans!!!! John Wayne was on the job keeping the peace and the streets safe!!!!!!! The horse he is riding, Jake, is 30 years old....
I guess some people get in to it more than others.......
Doesn't everyones Cadillac have a set of Longhorns on it? As a matter of fact, Rex (W5EAK) has been trying to put a set on my new pickup! I told him...step away from the truck.....HI....HI... You may end up with a leg whippin'
I asked them if I could take their picture....and they said, "Sure thing little lady".......
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone.....
For all of us here in Texas, we have a saying....if you don't like the weather give it a few days, it will change. Well as everyone knows, about three weeks or so ago, we had weather that even my Mother and Daddy has never seen before. Lots of snow, ice and frigid temperatures. No electricity, no water, low on food.....and look at us now......today is a beautiful, sun shiny day with a high of 78 degrees. I noticed that there are signs of a new season emerging all around.....things that made my heart smile....
Over in Mother and Daddy's yard.....
My Elmers yard.....
This is in my front yard. It may be weeds.....but what can I say....Purple Flowers!!!!!
Lately I have tried to leave everyone with a smile on their face and a chuckle in their voice....So this week I came across something that made me laugh, hope it makes you laugh as well.......
