Donnas Diaries 2/15/21

I usually do my updates on Sunday night, however, we have been experiencing very sporadic winter mixes with extreme low temperatures.....and this Texas gal is not handling the cold too well.  Every morning, when I go out back to feed the stock, I have to bust ice in the water troughs so the stock can get to water.....  On the way to my Secret Command Center I was thinking about what todays post would be about.....and then I thought, OH SNAP, VALENTINES DAY IS TOMORROW!!!!! So I decided to write about things I love and mean so much to me....for the most part....with me you never know what I will say or do next....HI...HI....

There is a family that has become my "extended family" and we all met because of Rodeo..... I was friends with the Mom, "P1", and then her daughter Amber and her daughter Laney......Amber was in High School at the time and wanted to Rodeo, specifically run what we call Pole Bending.  This is where a rider takes their horse weaving through poles...alot of skill and you better have a deep seat for those quick maneuvers or you will end up on the ground faster than a minnow can swim a dipper..... so I started getting my team roping horse Moondoggie ready for her, what we called legged up, for Amber to ride.....

Putting Moondoggie through the paces ....building up his muscles and wind......

Well as you can imagine, Amber and Moondoggie became best friends very fast.....up and to the point of her inviting him to her Baby Shower......yep, you heard me right...she invited him to her baby shower!

And that folks is how you do it....open the window and there you have it Guest #1 at your Baby Shower......

Out on my place we had, and I might add out of no where, a chicken wander up.....so what do you do when a chicken wanders up to your house, well you go to the feed store buy Chicken Scratch and then give her a name......Tina..... Don't ask me where they came up with that name, but there you have it.

And here she is folks...Amber with our trick chicken...Tina!!!!! She would jump up on Ambers back at command.....Does that qualify Amber as a "Chicken Whisperer"....Hi....HI....

Have you ever heard the term "Monkey See, Monkey Do"?  Well we all learned the hard way...be very careful what you say or do in front of young children because they are watching and learning.....

Was invited to a local elementary school for "Western Days"...all the kids got to dress up as Cowboys and Cowgirls.... The reason they invited us was because we owned a Robo Bull...a training apparatus for Bull Riders to practice on perfecting their techiniques.  Guess who had to wear her Chaps, yes Miss Laney.....

Cowgirl in Training.....

I was hollering at her, "Ride the hair off of him Laney girl".  She didn't realize it was on low speed and was barely moving.....

She was having so much fun....

And what self respecting Cowgirl doesn't have a John Deere tractor to help feed the livestock......... she was having such a fun time hauling the feed buckets around and I was glad because those things get heavy after a while.....

A Cowgirls work is never done.......

Raise your hand if you have ever done this before.......HI...HI...

Front Row: Laney

Couldn't resist posting these pictures of a family I met at Cracker Barrel one Saturday..... A friend and me decided to stop for lunch.....was seated at a table and ready to eat....we were hungry......  After you have been in the entertainment industry for as long as I have you learn to recognize people staring at you....  Well sitting at a table by the windows was a Grandfather, Dad and Grandson.... they were on a "Man's Day Out" adventure.....  I realized that the Grandson was staring a hole right through me.  He was smiling at me so I smiled back, waved my hand and said hi.....true to his age he was being very shy.  About halfway through our meal, I see the Dad walking up to our table.  He proceeds to tell me his whole family loves the show, Texas Flip N Move and that The Snow Sisters are his favorite.  Loved hearing that!!!!!!  The Dad asked if there was anyway his son could have his picture taken with me.....to which I replied, I would love to.....

I think the look on his face says it all.........

Then the Grandfather and Dad asked for a picture too......

Love meeting families that do things together.......

I came across a picture that inspired a DIY project Toni and I did on one of the houses for the show...... after the show I made a few more and put them in flower pots on the front porch of the office.  Will stand all the heat and cold, only being watered when it rains...yep my kind of plant....HI...HI...

A little wire and a few spicket handles and you are all set.....

In honor of Valentines Day I want to show you what true love looks like.....Come April 16, 2021 my Mother and Daddy will have been married 67 years.....still holding hands.....

She told him the other day....she would say "yes" all over again......

Side Bar.....(that's legal talk... HI...HI....)  Mother and Daddy went from living on $60.00 a week when they first married back in 1954 to making a family and a life over the next 67 years.  They have worked hard and sacrificed so much to get to where they are now.  Well a few weeks ago Daddy was talking to his "Mouth Piece" (Texan talk for Lawyer") and they were laughing and talking about life.  So Daddy tells him that Carlene (my mother) wasn't treating him the way he thought she should and that he may have to divorce her...to which his Mouth Piece said....well H. D., you will need to get you a new lawyer, I'll be representing Carlene....HI...HI....

Daddy said he would still do anything to get a kiss from his Sweetheart.....telling me this brought a tear to his eye.....he loves her so much.  So I asked Daddy, when you get a kiss now as compared to when they first got married, how does it make you feel....he sat there and thought a few minutes, a sheepish grin came across his face and said....like being thrown over the moon.  So I saw these pictures and thought this just about sizes that feeling up.....

Thanks Jo H for capturing Daddy's feelings in a picture.......

STOP THE PRESSES.....W5SML HAS AN URGENT UPDATE...... Looks like one of my prodigees has passed his Techinician Exam....shout out to Russ, a US Army Vietnam Veteran, can't tell you his call sign, he doesn't have one yet as the FCC is closed for Presidents Day and I don't think he is very happy about that!  Very proud of you my friend....now on to your General License...... Reckon which picture he is most proud of?  I'll let you decide....HI...HI...

This one where hair meets drone.......

This one....I bet it's this one.... All kidding aside, Congratulations Russ.....

O.M.G.....I cannot believe I left this picture out from last weeks post......another bit of "Royalty", however, this time it was in the Country and Western world.......ladies and gentlemen...look who Toni and I got our picture taken with at a concert in Grapevine, Texas....

Gary Lynn, Toni, PHIL VASSAR, Donna and George Dale....such fun and he sings a song titled, "Carlene" our Mothers name.......

Remember in the first part of this post I spoke about Laney?  And how we should always watch what we say and do in front of little ones?  Well, I had to learn a lesson the hard way, imagine that!  One one of the episodes of Texas Flip N Move, Randy, The Lone Wolf and I were going at it at an Auction over a house.  Evidently I gave him the "L" looser sign over my forehead.......didn't realize the camera man caught that on video.  Guess what made it into the cut for the episode?  That scene!!!!!  And guess who saw that episode, because she watches everyone of them?

Laney giving her Mother the "L" looser sign!  Amber said she laughed so hard she couldn't get on to her for it....HI...HI...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO MY HAM RADIO FAMILY and especially my Elmer, Rex (W5EAK)......heart
